About our Master

Ken Vance was born in Tarraleah in the Tasmanian highlands but has spent most of his life on Hobarts Eastern Shore, in Bellerive and Rose Bay. Ken went to Bellerive Primary School, Clarence High School and the Hobart Matriculation College.

After leaving school Ken started an apprenticeship in Motor Mechanics with a small firm in Bellerive, and it wasn’t long before he took over the business which he continued to operate for the next 32 years. Ken specialized in converting vehicles to run on LPG, and for a period also operated the Mobil Service Station in Bellerive.

He retired from the workshop in 2002 and then ran a freighting business for the next 10 years before retiring again, this time for good.

Ken is married to Gwendy and they have 3 children, Melanie, Ben and Jenna, and have 5 grandchildren todate. The family love spending time at their shack in Orford.

Ken started his Masonic career in 1995 when he was initiated into Lodge Loyalty. He progressed through the officers and became Master in 2001/2002 and again in 2005/2006. When Loyalty amalgamated with The Pacific Lodge, Ken progressed through the officers again from JD to eventually become Master in 2020.
